A very good friend of mine that loves to travel (he must know half of the world by now) told me the other day about the drinks he had in the places he's visited.

He started telling me about a drink called the Moscow Mule, a drink that might sound very Russian, but was born in the US, and it's very popular. This is a cocktail for adults because it contains alcohol. It is served traditionally in a metal jar or in a wide glass.

If you serve it in a metal jar it will stay cool for a lot longer because your hands won't make it warm. He told me how to prepare it and I took some notes on my cell phone. Here is the recipe for you guys:

Ingredients:
  • Crushed ice (a lot)
  • lemon juice (30 ml)
  • 50 ml of vodka
  • 250 ml of ginger beer or ginger ale
  • 1 slice of lemon
  • Mint leaves (optional)

Prepare your Moscow Mule:
  • Start by squeezing the juice out of the lemon. If it's fresh, you can use the juice of half a lemon and use the other half to garnish.
  • If your freezer doesn't make crushed ice you can use your blender or serve with big cubes. For this case, you better do a little effort and put that blender to work.
  • Add the vodka and the lemon juice in the shaker and shake.
  • Grab your cup and serve 1/3 of ice. Then add the vodka and lemon juice.
  • Now fill the jar with more ice and serve the ginger ale.
  • Decorate with lemon and some mint leaves.

You need to drink with a straw and grab the jar by the handle, this way it will stay cooler for much longer.

Where can you buy these jars? Well, you can buy them or order them online and you can also use them to drink cold beer. You need to make sure that the inside is covered with a layer of stainless steel.

If you don't find the mugs you can drink it in any other stainless steel glass or even in a beer pitcher.
